Silence Followed Band

My girlfriend and I have been dating for about a week now.?

We talk, but not a whole lot in person. Usually her friends are around and we are in a crowed place. e.g. band, chorus etc. But we text/call all the time. Like its all smiley faces and lols and stuff on the phone but not in person. for example I would say something that happened to be within the day to her and she’ll reply but she doesn’t like follow up, then there’s an awkward silence.,,what would be a good tip to spark a conversation? and Is she shy? uncomfortable? I really like her and I want to break this “shy wall”

any other advice/feedback is good too
I’m 14 ( 8th grade) and she is 13 ( 7th grade)
also something that has been bothering me today, I texted her around 2 pm and we were talking and she just stopped and didn’t reply all day, I called but she didn’t answer, the convo. was going good too idk wats up, what you ppl think? I just got a cellphone for Easter and I’m new at texting so idk if someone doesnt reply if that’s bad or wat
